This past Friday the Botswana Housing Corporation fulfilled its commitment to deliver eight multi-residential housing units in Francistown to the Botswana Prisons and Rehabilitation. This delivery comes after two housing projects were delivered successfully in Mahalapye and Gaborone in 2015. The project was coordinated through the Corporation’s Project Management arm, which managed project on behalf of similar clients.

Speaking at the handover ceremony held in the premises where these latest development sits, the Chief Executive Officer of Botswana Housing Corporation, Mr Reginald Motswaiso divulged that the project was developed at a tune of P7 Million by a 100% citizen owned contractor, Seemiso Seabelo Construction. Motswaiso said that the event marks yet another commitment by the Corporation towards delivering housing solutions to BHC clients as evidenced by previous projects which were delivered to the satisfaction of BPS as a client. He further urged other similar organisations to approach BHC should they desire such works, adding that the Corporation provides an array of professional services under its fold such as Land Acquisition experts, Architects, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors and Building Inspectors.

“We have in the past and continue to do similar works for several clients among them, the Botswana Defence Force, Botswana Unified Revenue Services and the Ministry of Lands and Housing”, he divulged adding that BPs also took this opportunity and engaged them to assist in managing their construction projects. Motswaiso said that their relation with BPS continues to grow with every project they are put in charge to manage something which demonstrates the trust the client has on them delivering accordingly.
When receiving the development on behalf of Botswana Prisons and Rehabilitation, BPS Commissioner, Silas Motlalekgosi could not hide his excitement and said BPS places accommodation as one of their main priorities. He said that for one to have dignity they need to have a roof over their head as His Excellency Lt. General Dr. Seretse Khama Iam Khama once said. “Today’s handover is a clear indication of our cordial working relationship with BHC. Staff housing is a centre of our gravity at BPS”, said Motlalekgosi. He further said that for Prison’s official to serve diligently they have to be provided with basic needs such as housing. Lastly Motlakgosi urged the Prison’s Staff to look after their houses as if it’s their own so that others who come after them can also enjoy the same benefits.

The handover ceremony was attended by among other, the President of the Customary Courts in Francistown, Kgosi Christopher Masunga, Heads of Government Departments and Parastatals and other notable figures from the Francistown Community. Prior to this development the Corporation managed and delivered another multi-residential housing complex to BPS not far away from this one around the Government Camp area.
