The Corporation recently took part in the second instalment of the Ngamiland International Trade and Agricultural Expo (NITAEX) as part of its efforts to educate the public about its mandate, operations and create awareness about its products, services and Government Housing Initiatives which are now coordinated under the auspices of the BHC. The theme for this year’s expo was “Unlocking Economic Development through Tourism and Agriculture.” The Public and Corporate Affairs teamed up with Maun Office to represent the Corporation at this four day expo held at the Maun Show grounds in Matshwane.

The expo attracted a number of Government Departments and private companies which showcased their products and services to the public. Botswana Housing Corporation also took this opportunity to engage with the public and educate them about various product offerings as well as to sensitise Batswana about Government Housing Initiatives which are geared towards poverty eradication. Many of those who visited the BHC stall enquired more about how they can access these initiatives especially SHHA Turnkey. Other inquiries were related to the Instalment Purchase Scheme popularly referred to as rent to buy by many Batswana. It has become apparent that such platforms are necessary to engage with members of the public as many Batswana lack knowledge on a number of housing initiatives geared towards improving their lives. To address this issue and close the knowledge gap, the Public and Corporate Affairs Department has taken a decision to participate in District Market Days, which are designed to educate Batswana about products and services of various Government Department and Parastatals, with the hope that they will take advantage of them to better their lives.
