MINISTRY OF WATER AND HUMAN SETTLEMENT CONSULTS STAKEHOLDERS IN THE HOUSING SECTOR ON THE BONNO NATIONAL HOUSING PROGRAMME
The Ministry of Water and Human Settlement has initiated consultations with key stakeholders in the housing sector to discuss the implementation of the Bonno National Housing Programme. The engagement aims to gather insights, align strategies, and ensure the programme effectively addresses the nation's housing needs.
When addressing the stakeholders, the Minister of Water and Human Settlement, Hon. Onneetse Ramogapi said the consultative forum is the foundation of a shared vision and learning platform that will build consensus as the insights will directly shape how the programme progresses.
The Minister lamented that the Bonno National Housing Programme is a bold and transformative initiative designed to address one of the most urgent social and economic challenges being the acute shortage of decent, affordable housing in Botswana. He said that in order to achieve this vision, the Ministry will leverage public land for reduced purchasing costs for housing units, thus achieving the goal of affordable housing for all and long-term leases to incentivize developers as well as streamlining approval processes and cutting red tape to fast-track project implementation.
