The Minister of Agriculture, Honourable Fidelis Molao says the imperative for sustainable innovation has never been clearer than now when the world faces unprecedented environmental challenges.

Officiating at this year’s Business Botswana Northern Trade Fair, Molao however hinted that, “amidst these challenges lies an opportunity and chance to harness human ingenuity, creativity, and technology to forge a path towards a more sustainable and resilient future.”

The fair, held under the theme, “SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION: BUILDING A GREENER TOMORROW” has offered stakeholders from across industries an opportunity to showcase their cutting-edge initiatives, products, and solutions that prioritize sustainability.

The Botswana Housing Corporation as part of this collective quest has launched an innovation in the workplace, a strategic initiative aimed at fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills among employees.

To demonstrate the timeliness of the BHC staff innovation initiative, and cast it into the bigger picture, Molao is also quoted saying, “Sustainable innovation is not just about developing new technologies or products,” but fundamentally about reimagining systems, processes, and mindsets.

The Chief Executive Officer of the BHC is quoted during the launch of the innovation week at the beginning of the year saying, “Innovation is the lifeblood of progress, and it is woven into the very fabric of our Corporation’s DNA.”

Mindset change as championed by our President, His Excellency, Dr. Mokgweetsi E.K Masisi has gained traction within the establishment of the BHC with employees currently locked in an intensive search for ideas that will birth fully functional projects.

Through a structured, supportive incubation process facilitated by TheNeoHub, employees will be empowered to bring their ideas to life, driving long-term success and innovation within the organization.

To further add weight to the assertion that BHC is on the right track, Mr. Neo Nwako the Business Botswana President has also revealed that businesses must foster environmentally friendly ideas and contribute positively to our shared future.

“it is imperative to recognize that in pursuit of profit, we must not neglect our responsibility to care for the environment,” Nwako has said.

Responding to this call, the newly appointed Regional Director of the BHC in the North, Goitseone Sebego, said, “Our mandate is to revolutionize the provision of sustainable housing solutions through innovation and exceptional customer service.”

She further adds that the corporation supports green initiatives such as the much-famed eco-friendly building block called the Kgalagadi sand brick.

Employees are called to continually evolve, adapt, and innovate to stay ahead of the curve.
